Beware Of Darkness - Orthodox

” [A] Zeppelin-riffing, bluesy face-stomper…Think a more suped-up Black Keys

concerned with pleasing the ladies with some fire-and-brimstone-y religious

undertones for good measure. Party!” – SPIN

“Can you say rock? Heavy guitars, “howling” riffs and gritty vocals join forces to make what you hear coming out of L.A. based trio Beware of Darkness.” – FILTER Magazine

“‘All Who Remain’ isn’t the happiest song, but it is so, so good.” – MTV Hive

Los Angeles-based indie rock trio Beware of Darkness are pleased to announce the release of their debut album titled Orthodox. Released this week (Tuesday, May 7th) through Bright Antenna Records, the long-awaited album follows the band’s well-received Howl EP and is a body of work heavily clouded with imagery and inspiration drawn from literary figures such as Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson, and David Foster Wallace. Throughout Orthodox, chief songwriter and front man Kyle Nicolaides delivers scathing lyrical content in a snarling howl. Powered by the album’s lead single, “Howl,” a song that has cracked the Top 20 at Modern Rock Radio and will be performed live on Conan on Wednesday, May 15, Orthodox is incredibly potent and precise, a collection of songs whose lyrics are meant to evoke reactions.

Check out some behind-the-scenes footage from the band’s very first trip to the UK that recently premiered on Purevolume.com.

Recorded at the Sound Factory and Valley Recorder in Hollywood, CA, executive produced and mixed by Dave Sardy (Oasis, LCD Soundsystem, Nine Inch Nails), and produced by Greg Gordon and front man Kyle Nicolaides, Orthodox proves itself to be a sensuous experience – aimed somewhere between the gut and dirty dive bar – but death, and its implications for the living, is wrestled with on nearly each of the album’s twelve blistering tracks. Anticipation for the album has been building since the band released their beloved Howl EP last year that earned instant acclaim and launched the single “Howl,” a song that has already hit Top 40 Rock Radio with over 26 stations playing it in regular rotation and whose video premiered on FUSE.

2013 is continuing to be a busy year for the members of Beware of DarknessKyle Nicolaides (vocals, guitar), Daniel Curcio (bass) and Tony Cupito (drums) – with “Howl” continuing to climb the alternative radio charts as well as forthcoming appearances on the Vans Warped Tour in the U.S. and dates in the UK and Europe. Having already shared the stage with the likes of Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Social Distortion, Deftones, Silversun Pickups, Tegan and Sara, Metric, AWOLNATION and others, the band will add more names to the list with performances on Warped Tour, a string of radio festivals, and an upcoming tour through Europe with Smashing Pumpkins.
