(25 July 2013 – Los Angeles, CA) Hollywood based hard rockers Blacklist Union will have their latest album, ‘Til Death Do Us Part available in physical retail outlets on 30 August via a distribution deal with Vanity Music Group and iDC Distribution. Produced and mixed by Chris Johnson (Buckcherry, Evanescence, Goldfinger, etc) and recorded at Skip Saylor Recording and The Village in Los Angeles, CA. The album takes the listener on a dark, disturbing and exhilarating run through songs like “Alabama Slammer” (a tragic love story that started off beautifully only to have a bitter crash and burn at the end), “I Do” (a song about “waking up after having your head in your ass for years,” says frontman, Tony West) and the album’s title track (about loving and living your life to the fullest before we all “cross over”)

“This is a great opportunity for us,” says frontman, Tony West.  “We released the album ourselves towards the end of last year but it was really just sold through our website and other online stores, as well as iTunes.  Now, it gives us another reason to get back out on the road, which is what we love the most.  It’s just great that album is available in physical stores now.”

Blacklist Union is looking to take to the road once again by early fall.

(23 July 2013 – Birmingham, UKLast Friday night, July 19, about 500 people came together at The Asylum in Birmingham, England for a very special event – The Steve Harris (SHY) Tribute and Brain Tumour UK charity event.  “It was amazing to see so many people come together to support a great cause and to pay tribute to a wonderful man and a great musician. I cannot believe how generous people were. When I decided to organize a raffle I was overwhelmed the by the donation of prizes,” replies Pamela Mills. “I anticipated that I would raise around 200 pounds but people were queuing to buy tickets. The total of 650 pounds for just the raffle alone totally exceeded all my expectations”.

The event, which hosted esteemed hard rock heroes SHY raised around $7,000 on the night to donate to Brain Tumour UK in Steve’s name with more money pouring in from online auctions, as well.  “The event was absolutely amazing,” says Shy keyboardist, Joe Basketts. “So many people came together to make this happen and on the night nearly two years of hard work just fell into place. The support we received from friends, fans and other musicians has been overwhelming, without which we could not possibly have put this show on.”

Several items were raffled off and are included in an online auction, including autographed guitars from George Lynch, Michael Schenker and the members of SHY, a Blackstar amp autographed by ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, drum heads autographed by the members of Magnum, autographed artwork from fantasy artist Rodney Matthews, who designed a total of ten Magnum album covers, an autographed Ozzy Osbourne poster and an autographed TNT jacket amongst various other autographed CD’s, records and t-shirts.

Steve Harris was struck down with a brain tumour in June of 2009 during the recording of the band’s self titled swansong album (and thirteenth release overall) and succumbed to the neurological disorder in October 2011.  He was an extremely beloved person in the hard rock community, not only respected for his incredible talent but also as someone who had a positive affect on everyone he came in contact with.  Steve was the founding member of SHY (initially called Trojan) at 17 years of age and played on every album the band recorded from 1983 to 2011.”Steve Harris was one of the nicest and most down to earth blokes you could ever hope to meet,” says Roy Davis. “As talented as he was there was never any sign of ego at all.  He was the most humble member of the band!  He should have gotten more recognition than he did.  Who knows, maybe if he had put himself ‘out there’ a bit more, was more flashy, more over the top, whatever, he might have been.”

The current members of SHY (vocalist Lee Small, bass player, Roy Davis, keyboardist Joe Basketts and drummer, Bob Richards) were joined onstage by friends Neil Hibbs and Carl Anthony Wright, who played Harris’ parts on the older songs, whilst Harris’ own guitar parts were taken straight from the multitracks and played using a click track through the PA system for the songs from the latest album.  One of the many highlights of the evening was original frontman, Tony Mills joining the band onstage for a run through of some of the classic hits. “It’s been over twenty years since I performed with SHY to any great measure, but the rehearsal went as if it was only yesterday,” says Mills. “I have to attribute that to Steve’s writing and undeniable flare in composition. A truly great artist, taken from us much too soon; it was an honour to be part of such a fitting tribute to one of the most professional musicians I have ever performed with.”
Roy Davis on Steve Harris:”Steve was always on time, never missed a day of work.  He had never been sick.  He’s never smoked or drank.  When we were on tour, the rest of us would go out and get drunk every night and he never did.  He really was the epitome of someone who lives the clean lifestyle. And this happened to him.  There are a lot of people asking, ‘why him and not me?’ There’s no reason to anything in life in that this would claim the life of a guy like Steve Harris.”

You can take part in the online auction by visiting: http://bit.ly/1aFfg9O

The Steve Harris Memorial can be viewed at: www.steveharrismemorial.co.uk

Keyboard player, Joe Basketts has set up a Facebook page to share, view and add photos and videos from the night at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/175642609284185/

(18 July 2013 – Boston, MA) Massachusetts based aggressive rock band Mongrel are looking for supporters of “evolution” over the next 30 days. The female fronted band is gearing up to hit the studio to record a new 5 song Ep entitled ‘Evolution’ this summer with basic tracking to be done at Red 13 Media in Framingham, MA. Jim Foster (Sully Erna/Godsmack, Shinedown, POD, Nullset, Bam Margera), who produced the band’s last 3 releases will once again be behind the board.  Mongrel’s goal, with the backing of friends, fans, and supporters is to have the Ep mixed by Dave Fortman, whose track record (beyond being a member of Ugly Kid Joe), includes work with Slipknot, Mudvayne, Snot, Soil, Otep, Godsmack, and Evanescence. “Dave’s work with these bands and ability to get a big sounding, aggressive mix while maintaining the balance enough to keep it playable seems perfect for the songs we’ve been working on,” states band founder/guitarist Adam Savage. “The new material really allows Jess (Sierra) to shine vocally, and lets our newer members (Mike Hogan on drums and Michael Ariza on bass) really show their chops as well.  It really is taking what we do to the next level, the next “evolution” of the band as it were. Hence the name of the new Ep.”

Being an indie band without major label support and funding, Mongrel has set up a Kickstarter campaign and is looking to raise a goal of at least $3,000 to cover mixing costs. Any extra money raised will go towards production/packaging and marketing for the new release. A tentative mid winter release plan has been set for ‘Evolution’ with specific details to be announced late summer/early fall. Reward levels start out as low as $2 to allow everyone to be able to participate.  Higher level contributions will get rewards ranging from limited edition DVDs, exclusive T-shirts, the “Cookie Monster” costume from the band’s recent “C & a 1/2” video (http://youtu.be/SqJ5JB8vDNo), a rare Gibson Explorer guitar, and even a custom “Mongrel” Artist Series Guitar.

Mongrel’s newest album Reclamation, was released digitally in September of 2012 via THC:Music and to brick and mortar outlets in May of 2013 through Vanity Music Group. Reclamation was sixth most added in its CMJ chart debut, and peaked  at #43 on the CMJ charts, spawning videos for the songs “Bored to Death” (http://youtu.be/nZiczkduf2E) and the aforementioned “C & 1/2“.

In the coming months in addition to recording the new Ep,  Mongrel will be playing with Godsmack (8/10, Giford, NH), headlining a show at the Palladium in Worcester, MA on August 16th, and returning to Boston MA on August 17th for a show at the Hard Rock Cafe

(10 July 2013 – Phoenix, AZ)  Modern rock newcomers Defy Tolerance have released their debut album, Stop The Bleeding via their own imprint, Able Records.

Produced by House of Lords and Fifth Angel drummer, Ken Mary, the ten song affair was recorded at SonicPhish Studios in Phoenix, AZ and mastered by Tony Glassner at Spectre Mastering.  “I met Ken in 2011 through a co-worker who played in a band with him many years ago called 3 Degrees West,” says singer Freddy Kilo. “I didn’t have a band at the time, but I wanted Ken to record a few songs I had written. Later, when it came time for Defy Tolerance to record, I called Ken, we met up, went over the music and went into the studio to record.  It was all pretty simple, actually.”

Coming off as a cross between Alter Bridge and  Godsmack, the quartet is a tight no-holds-barred unit who have shared the stage with the likes of Trapt, Burn Halo, 12 Stones, Prong, Smile Empty Soul and Attika 7.
Defy Tolerance came together in 2011 when frontman Freddy Kilo met bassist Donny Rosko in, of all places, a bathroom after a gig Donny played. The two of them got together, shared some musical ideas and wrote a few songs.  When they saw that they meshed well they took an ad out to find a drummer. After meeting drummer after drummer and getting nowhere, Garin Wolfe walked in the door and it was just meant to be. “Some of the guys we auditioned didn’t even bother to learn the songs!” reflects Rosko. “Garin showed up prepared and just nailed it.”  The trio started playing shows in Feb of 2012 and during this time they recorded Stop The Bleeding. “In the studio we were writing and recording a lot of secondary guitar parts,” says Donny. “We all agreed to add a 2nd guitarist and the search was on. After a few not-so-great auditions, Garin suggested Brian Miller, who worked with him at the time. The dude shreds. We thought he would be a good fit and bring something new to our stage show. We had a month of practice and he debuted when we opened for Smile Empty Soul.”

Stop The Bleeding is available now via the band’s website and on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/defy-tolerance/id492433308

(10 July 2013 – St. Louis, MO)  Veteran St. Louis metallers Conquest have just released their new album The War We Rage via Dark Star Records.  Produced by frontman, Derrick Brumley and engineered by Adam Long, The War We Rage is Conquest’s fifth full length album and seventh release overall.
Picking up where their previous effort, ‘End of Days,’ left off, The War We Rage includes a blistering cover of The Charlie Daniels Band classic “Long Haired Country Boy,” and is a slamming 13 song tutorial in melody, power and pure metal mayhem. “We chose “Long Haired Country Boy” as a cover because we used to play it back in the day and it was a lot  of fun,” says Conquest frontman Derrick Brumley. “It was much lighter  back then but we thought it would be cool to kick it in the ass and  re-do the track. It’s a damn good time live!”
Recorded at The Metal Factory in St. Louis, MO, The War We Rage shows a marked maturity in Brumley’s writing style. “Nothing’s really  changed all that much, we’re just writing better songs is all, “tells  Derrick, “I like thrash and power metal and just good rock and roll  that’s really how I write.  We all stepped our game up a bit.  We always try to top what we did on our last disc, ya know?”
Conquest will support The War We Rage with select dates around the Midwestern United States.
